That's right the big N is ready to step up it's game and attempt to reclaim the hardcore.  Word on the street is Nintendo is going balls to the walls.  We're talking a console that is as powerful if not more powerful than the 360 and PS3.  Alright maybe less word on the street and more word from the developers.  In other words it has been officially confirmed, by undisclosed devs. Code name: Cafe

Obviously most gamers familiar with the industry have seen the writing on the wall for some time.  Check out our comprehensive list of upcoming Nintendo releases. That's right notice the 1st party support for the Wii is hardly there at all.  We can all remember a similar scenario during the end of the GameCube days.

To clarify the developers have only gotten their hands on alpha builds of the next gen console.  That means alot could change and things like aesthetics and specs are nowhere near what the final retail product will entail.  Honestly I'm not too excited about the controller.  It's essentially a touch screen separated by buttons.  I know lots of people love their IOS games, but I need a real effin controller.  Hopefully there will be a more traditional controller available to those of us that don't have the desire to play a game w/ a mini IPad stuffed between buttons.

Think about this.  Mario Galaxy was a showcase of eyecandy.  Even though the resolution didn't exceed 480P the textures, lighting and models were all top notch.  Imagine the type of AAA 1st party titles we could get on a console more powerful than what our current gen entails.  Supposedly the new console will resemble a modernized SNES.  Estimate in price range from $350 to $400.
